Delhi Government Begins Infrastructure Audit of Over 1,000 Public Schools
December 20, 2025
The Delhi government has initiated a large-scale infrastructure audit covering more than 1,000 government schools across the city. The exercise aims to assess structural safety, sanitation facilities, fire preparedness, and overall building conditions. Education department officials said the audit will help identify urgent repair needs and improve student safety. Data collection is being supported by trained interns and technical staff, who will submit reports for departmental review. Parent groups have welcomed the move, citing concerns over aging school buildings. However, some education activists have called for independent oversight to ensure transparency. The government stated that audit findings will directly inform budget allocation for repairs and upgrades in the coming financial year.
